Richmond High School’s Earth Team Interns have quite the task for themselves this year; the final stages of creating a new park! They are working with the City of San Pablo to turn a vacant lot along San Pablo Avenue into the City’s newest Park. Interns from the past 3 years have been planting trees at this site, so this year’s interns have the two-sided job of planting new trees and protecting the ones that already have been planted.

San Lorenzo High School’s Earth Team Interns have been hard at work the last few week at Oyster Bay. The interns are working with East Bay Regional Parks to restore Oyster Bay, once a garbage dump, to a beautiful park for the people of the East Bay. They started by planting native sage brush, which will serve as a habitat for migrating monarch butterflies.

he Interns also worked to set up caging around recently planted trees to protect them from disc golfers, eager to try out the East Bay’s newest disc golf course....

Earth Team’s Outdoor Explorers Program prioritizes safety and preparation at all times. We prioritize safety in a multitude of ways. For example; like ensuring there is Wilderness First Responder present at all outdoor trips, overviewing students medical needs well in advance, and creating safety logs for every trip so crucial information is at our fingertips in the case of an emergency.

Earth Team is proud to announce the completion of our participation in Youth Outside’s Cultural Relevancy Series. The Cultural Relevancy series was a collection of full-day trainings throughout eight months. Training topics included; changing organizational culture, examining unconscious bias, developing relevant curriculum, non-violent communication, recruiting with intention and much more!
